Nourishing Yourself Mind Body Spirit

Share

Ever heard the term, ‘healthy body, healthy mind?’ Exercise causes an increase in feel-good endorphins to the brain which enhance mental wellbeing. The reverse is also true. Cultivating a healthy mindset helps guide the habits and supports the wellness rituals you do to feel your best. You need to nourish yourself mind, body and spirit.

Your health today is the accumulation of the beliefs, knowledge and habits you’ve developed over your lifetime. The good news is that whether you’re in your twenties or your eighties, with a little grace, you can create new habits. It all begins in your mind and with a decision.

What do you want?

The place to begin is to ask yourself what you want to be different about your health. Do you want to be more physically fit to play a sport or some other recreational activity? Do you want more energy to do the things you love? Do you want to improve an existing health condition? Do you want to break free from stress or shed some excess weight?

Get alone, get quiet, and get honest with yourself about this. Only you know how you feel. Sometimes this can be the hardest step because it involves being vulnerable and admitting a change needs to happen. But once you decide you need to make a change, a shift takes place. Suddenly you find yourself less satisfied with things as they are.

You 2.0

Since you’ve taken a lifetime to get to where you are now, cut yourself a little slack. Give yourself some time to learn a new way of living. Choose one thing, one new habit that nourishes you. Once you’ve done that, surround that new habit with encouragement in the form of words.

If you’re like most of us, you’ve talked to yourself before. Sometimes you haven’t said the kindest things to yourself. The best way to nourish your body with a new habit, is to nourish your spirit with life-affirming words. All lasting and positive change comes from within. It may feel strange at first, but when you talk to yourself with love and kindness, another shift will take place. You’ll begin to believe that the change you want may be possible.

As you grow in your new habit, you’ll find your confidence builds. It might spread into other areas of your life and hopefully bless those around you. When you open yourself up to creating new, healthy habits, you may just find life get more exciting and enjoyable. It’ll be worth it.
