I recently looked at some videos of when my children were babies. It transported me right back to that early stage of motherhood. They were so cute! Watching them play with each other and listening to them speak their first sentences brought happy tears to my eyes. In moments, I was taken right back to that time.
Information Overload
I recall how much reading and journalling I did during that phase as a mom. I was reading everything: Books about food, sleep, growth patterns, parenting, socialization. It was enough to make my head spin but I was determined to know all that I could to raise healthy, happy children.
It didn’t take long before I noticed how many differing ideas there were on parenting. It started to get a bit confusing. Once I felt confident enough, I stopped reading, tucked away a few tidbits I’d learned, and started to go with what felt right. I began to tune into the mother wisdom God had divinely given me. I started to feel more at ease and the benefits were clear to my boys.
They thrived. And so did I.
In the same way I experienced information overload as a new Mom, you can sometimes feel with your health. All the fitness crazes, the latest superfood diet, countless items that get heaped onto your wellness to do list.
It can be overwhelming to the extent that you become paralyzed and give up.
Your health is too important to give up on though. I encourage you to focus on simplicity. What simple pattern, strategy, or change can you make to help you thrive? I have lots of great ideas to share and many of them are posted each week on my website.
I believe that the very best place for you to start though, is by asking yourself a couple of questions:
~How do I want to feel?
~If I could change one thing about my health, what would it be?
~What stops me from making this change?
~What do I stand to gain if I succeed?
Getting still to ask yourself these questions is very important. Tuning in to why you want to do something is a great motivator. So often the answers you’re looking for can be found within. You just have to listen. Once you know what you want to accomplish, the how to is easy to find.
If you find yourself in the phase of healthy change, I have simple tools that can help. I’m just an email away: info@sheilabotelho.com.
