Your Wellness Intentions

How are you feeling about your health these days? Did you implement some New Year’s wellness intentions?

However your year has been shaping up, there’s a good chance things haven’t gone exactly as you’ve planned. And that’s ok.

Even if the positive steps you’ve taken have u-turned back towards unhealthy habits, there’s still hope. It’s like I tell my kids: What we’ve been programmed to think of as failure is really a result of courage. If you’re “failing” it means that you’re trying something new – you’re growing. And that’s amazing!

So what’s next?

Take a peek back at the new habits you tried out over the last few weeks. What made you feel good? What was really hard for you to implement? What surprised you about yourself? When we make time to gather insights like this, it’s amazing what we uncover. Sometimes we learn that we’re limited by a childhood memory, or the words of someone who isn’t even in our life anymore. Untangling from outdated beliefs about ourselves is the catalyst for rebirth – mind and body.

What’s amazing is that whenever you try something new, you change a little bit.

Like a rubber band that has been stretched and doesn’t go back to its original size, so it is with your mind. Even if you haven’t sustained a new habit for long, you see a glimpse of what you’re capable of.

Let’s face it. We’ve all compared ourselves with other people, wondering if we could have a life or abilities like them. Sometimes the way we gather enough courage to try something new is by telling ourselves that “If they can do it, maybe I can, too!” When we act on our intentions, we catch the essence of what our lives could look like. Capture that and use it to fuel you towards positive change.

Why do you want to be healthier?

As you look ahead to the coming days, this question alone can keep you on track. When you are clear about why you want to make a change, you’ll be more likely to stick to it. Have photos or words in prominent places at home and at work to remind you. Tell some close friends what you’re working to accomplish. Having a tribe of cheerleaders is priceless. And if you want to be even more empowered, cheer them on as well. Upward momentum happens in leaps and bounds within a group.

Whatever you intentions are this year, make sure you eat your greens! I’m featuring my delicious Mango Vinaigrette this week on the blog. Go whip yourself up a batch and eat to your health.

What are you most looking forward to this year? Let me know in the comments.

Blessings,

Sheila
